Praying Slow by Diane Fernald

Prayer is simple. Prayer is complex. Prayer is as easy as whispering 'Good Morning' to Papa God, or 'Help me' when troubled or discouraged. Jesus taught us to pray, and the Bible is filled with prayers and psalms whispered and sung over thousands of years. Prayer is not new. It is as old as man himself, but as fresh as a newborn who expresses his joy in his birth with lusty cries and newly sprung, salty tears. And prayer that matters, that changes lives and circumstances and people, prayer that alters universes and the very course of life, is slow and measured. It is full of faith and hope.

The Lion & The Lioness by Theresa Millet

To date, this is my favorite blog piece ever written. It came from a personal time of conversation with Jesus, in which I asked how he could love me even on my worst day. As I went about getting ready for the day ahead, this played out within my imagination, but I really believe it was given to me by the Holy Spirit.

I see the Lion of Judah calling His Brave One. She may not see the brave in her, but He sees it.

Along with intimacy and relationship, being faithful to Dawn’s First Call brings practical blessings as well. I noticed in the first weeks of praying first thing every morning that my days were simply better, less harried somehow. Life “flowed” more easily. I was clearer when confronted with problems; solutions seemed to settle into my mind more easily, more quickly. I felt easy in my skin, peaceful in my heart - and that overflowed to those around me. Laughter bubbled up more often - and when I was upset or angry, there was a sense of restraint that popped up in my heart and mind, and sense of time slowing down - as if a Father’s hand were coming down gently to stop my foolish words, my careless act. I wasn’t always obedient to that Holy Hand over my mouth or heart, but it was consistent. Prayer was changing me, and for the better.
