How?

“you’re mine, so fear not because I have compensated for your faults and shortcomings, and have restored you to “favorite status” because of the work of your Big Brother on the cross.”

There’s a certain theme to my life these days. The theme of God as my Father. I’ve always known He was my Father in here (pointing to my head), but these days, thru the things I read, and listen to, and thru the experiences, both good and bad going on in my life, I see Him as my Father in here (pointing to my heart) and I relate to Him as a daughter. He’s more real to me now as Abba, than He has ever been before. I know now that I am no longer just one of His billions of kids. I’m “K”, His daughter.

The Voice of the Lord

I want to start by sharing something from one of Sarah Young’s devotionals dated yesterday, October 30. One of the scriptures she used was John 10:14, 27-28 which says, “I am the Good Shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me... My sheep listen to my voice...”

The Stuff Legends Are Made Of

When five year olds are asked what they want to be when they grow up a great majority of them say things like, spiderman, superman, wonder woman, supergirl, thor, a princess, things like that. As they get older, and the adults gently tell them that those things are not possible or realistic, it appears as if they change their dream to something more “realistic.”

Identity

In this short study about Identity, I want to touch on 3 things:

  1. We’ll start with some definitions for identity and some thoughts about identity

  2. Then, we will look at the 7 churches in the book of revelation and how they reflect our identity

  3. Finally, we will end with a prophetic act that will help us cement our identity within ourselves and in the atmosphere around us

Pilgrims or Settlers

To make ourselves at home on this earth is to limit our call as Christians. This world is not our home. A pilgrim is a person who journeys to a sacred place for religious reasons. The word pilgrim is synonymous with the words worshiper, devotee, and believer. A Christian is a pilgrim. We are believing and worshiping devotees of Jesus Christ, and we are on a daily journey to that sacred place called the eternal presence of the Lord. When this life becomes more important to us than the next, it is an indication that we have changed our name from pilgrim to settler.

Running with the Footmen AND the Horses

Jeremiah 12:5 says, "If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses?" The Lord was asking Jeremiah a simple question: if you can't stand while the going is easy, what do you think will happen when the going gets tough? What a good question!

The Power of the “We”

Hebrews 3:12-15 KJV: “12 Take heed , brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. 13 But exhort one another daily , while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end; 15 While it is said , To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.”

Survive or Thrive

The title gives the impression that one of those things is bad. Like one makes us less saved or less in love with Jesus than the other. That’s not the case. Survival is a season that we go through many times in life. Thriving is what our life should be like the rest of the time. If we didn’t have survival instincts or survival mode to fall into, then many of us would be insane or even dead. If the Lord hadn’t provided that place where we could “just get through the day” then some of us would not be here today.

Come Away With ME

Come Away With Me” is not just a wonderful Jesus Culture song. It is the call of God to every man, woman, and child on earth. The Creator of the Universe desires intimacy with us, and every day He issues the invitation from Psalm 27:8: “seek ye My face.” Abba never intended for our relationship with Him to be one sided: Him knowing us completely and us knowing things about Him but not knowing Him at all. Today, if you will hear His voice, He is saying, “seek ye My face.”

Fellowship: A Tool of Healing

James 5:16 is encouraging us to confess our faults to one another and to pray for one another. Both acts require intimacy and trust, and intimacy and trust are built over time in loving fellowship. It's in the act of fellowship that we become comfortable enough with other people to humble ourselves and confess our faults. It's in the safety of fellowship that we can pray one for another.

Ready

Today, I want to talk to you about the word ready. What it means to be ready to serve God, to make others ready to serve Him, and how to pursue those who don’t know Him yet. Genesis 14:14-16 will give a good example of readiness, what it looks like in action and its results.
